The National Institute of Immovable Cultural Heritage (NIICH) is secondary authorizing officer to the Minister of Culture. NIICH a state cultural institute of national importance with research and expert functions in the field of immovable cultural heritage. It may set up subsidiaries on a territorial basis.

 

Assist the Minister of Culture in the implementation of state policy in the field of conservation of immovable cultural heritage, prepare comprehensive assessments and scientifically reasoned proposals for the registration of immovable cultural values; The proposed regime for their protection; submit opinions on the projects to be agreed under the CHA; develop plans for conservation and management of immovable cultural heritage; prepare pilot projects planned assignments and expertise in this area.
Carries out research on search and exploration of immovable cultural heritage and develop the methodology of this activity;
Performs specialized documentation of immovable cultural values and digitizing the information available to them.
Maintain a national register of immovable cultural values and the National Archive Fund of immovable cultural heritage.
Create, maintain and develop an information system for immovable cultural heritage.
Interact with Bulgarian and international cultural and scientific institutions and organizations in the field of immovable cultural heritage. Exercise other powers under the law.
